I didn&#8217;t want to miss this moment in history.  I slept, woke up, watched a bit of TV.  At 6 a.m., Oslo time, I was woken up by my 9 year old son, saying: &#8220;Mummy, he won!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>You see, my american friends; even 9 year old boys, who do not understand what Barack Obama is saying, are touched and moved by just watching your new president.  His ability to inspire is evident even without understanding his words.<\/p>\n<p>He has a tough job ahead, but it is like he said himself: Anything is possible in America.<\/p>\n<p>In November 145 years ago, Abraham Lincoln gave his <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikisource.org\/wiki\/Gettysburg_Address\">Gettysburg adress<\/a>, stating that: <em>&#8220;Fourscore and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>145 years ago a civil war raged to remove slavery.  <\/p>\n<p>The text is inscribed on the walls of the Lincoln memorial in Washington DC.  Thanks to my friend Jeff I have seen it.  The speech was given at the Gettysburg cemetary, and again thanks to Jeff I have been there too.<\/p>\n<p>In August 45 years ago, Martin Luther King Jr. gave his <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/I_Have_a_Dream\">&#8220;I have a dream&#8221;<\/a>-speech, stating that: <em>&#8220;I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: &#8216;We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>45 years ago an unarmed civil war raged to realise that dream.<\/p>\n<p>The speech was delivered at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, where the words of the Gettysburg adress are inscribed.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2008 the people of the United States proved that it is possible to win that dream.<\/p>\n<p>Please forgive me for taking out the big words.  Thank you for electing Barack Obama.
